In February, we reported that Ohio SB 148, the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, overwhelmingly passed the Senate by a vote of 25 to 7 and was sent to the House for further consideration. On Tuesday, June 18th, at 11:00 a.m. in room 018, the House Financial Institutions Committee scheduled the first reading of this important bill.
SB 148 prohibits payment settlement entities, merchant acquiring entities, and third-party settlement organizations from assigning MCCs or otherwise classifying merchants of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise or sporting goods retailers.
Use our Take Action button to email the members of the committee urging them to support the sportsmen community and vote “Yes” to SB 148.
Big credit card companies are moving forward to comply with California and now Colorado’s new law. It is now more important than ever for the Buckeye State to protect its sportsmen’s credit card purchase privacy. Don’t forget to share this alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Encourage them to Take Action and contact the committee urging them to vote “Yes” on SB 148. The Buckeye State needs all its sportsmen and gun owners to stay actively involved to help defend and protect our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for future generations.
