Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed two bills into law that affect sportsmen. The good news first.
Earlier this week, the governor signed a bill to repeal some of Connecticut’s long-standing “blue law” concerning Sunday hunting. Since 2015, sportsmen have been able to hunt deer with a bow and arrow on private land. With the signing of HB 7231, sportsmen will be able to hunt with other methods on Sundays, in addition to bow and arrow, on private lands of 10 or more acres with written permission from the landowner. This new law also requires the hunter to carry this permission while hunting. However, hunting migratory birds is still closed on Sundays. HB 7231 takes effect October 1, 2025.
Unfortunately, the governor failed to continue his support for sportsmen by signing HB 7042 into law. HB 7042 permits filing a civil action against a firearm industry member who fails to exercise “reasonable” control over firearm industry products. This legislation will only lead to anti-sportsmen and gun-control extremists using this to try to bankrupt the firearm industry and to stop firearm owners from exercising their right to hunt, shoot recreationally, or to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Do not forget to share this alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Remind them that the fight to protect sportsmen’s rights continues. It is essential to stay engaged and take action when needed.
The extremists are working tirelessly to erode our rights, values, and heritage, and now is the time to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future. Join the Sportsmen’s Alliance in fighting for you, the sportsmen!
