Yesterday, April 30, the Alabama House passed SB 281, the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, by a vote of 85 to 5. SB 281 has been sent to the Governor for consideration.
Please use our Take Action button to email Governor Kay Ivey and ask her to support Alabama’s sportsmen by signing SB 281 into law.

SB 281 prohibits a financial institution from requiring merchants to use a merchant category code (MCC) or any other indicator to distinguish a firearms retailer from a general merchandise retailer or a sporting goods retailer. SB 281 further protects sportsmen by authorizing the Attorney General to investigate alleged violations of this act, to enforce this act by bringing an action to recover civil penalties and to restrain and enjoin an individual or entity from violating this act.
Governor Iveyās signature is the last step needed for Alabama to join more than a dozen states that have already signed this important legislation into law protecting the credit card purchase privacy of their sportsmen and gun owners.
