Legislation to protect the credit card purchase privacy rights of the sportsmen of the Hawkeye State is moving quickly through the legislative process.
House File 2464 prohibits the assignment of a firearms code in a manner that distinguishes a firearm retailer from other retailers, thus preventing firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition from being specifically singled out purchases with a credit card. The bill also prohibits a government entity from knowingly keeping or causing a record or registry of privately owned firearms or the owners of privately owned firearms to be kept.
HF 2464 has passed the House by a vote of 68 to 27. Yesterday, the Senate Commerce Committee recommended passage of this important bill to the Senate. HF 2464 is now eligible to be voted on the Senate floor.
