Delaware Seeks to Restrict Magazines and Establish State Background Check

The Delaware legislature is moving forward on several measures that restrict firearms including bans on high-capacity magazines. The state would also create its own background check system for people who wish to buy a firearm.

Senate Bill 6 will ban high-capacity magazines that can accept more than 17 rounds. The bill does not apply to .22 caliber “tubular” magazines. The Delaware Senate passed SB 6 on June 7th. It is now in the House of Representatives.

House Bill 423 will create the Firearms Transaction Approval Program which will serve as the background check program for firearms purchases in Delaware. The House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee approved HB 423 on June 7th, clearing the way for a vote before the full House.

Sportsmen should contact their Delaware Senators and Representatives to oppose these extreme infringements on our firearms freedom using our Legislative Action Center.
