On May 21 and 22, starting at 8:30 a.m. on both days, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting on several sportsmen-related issues. The meeting will be held at the College of Central Florida, The Ewer Century Center, Klein Conference Center Building 40, 3001 S.W. College Rd., in Ocala.
The commission will discuss proposed rules for a black bear hunt and more on Wednesday. On Thursday they will take action on recommended changes to the wildlife codes regarding the 2025-26 deer hunting season, duck zone boundaries and season dates, furbearer regulations, and discussing other important sportsmen issues. There will be time allotted for in-person public comments. For in-person comments, please review the speaker registration guidelines at myfwc.com/about/commission/.
The commission consists of seven citizens who are charged with the duty to exercise regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to wild animal life and fresh water aquatic life and shall also exercise regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to marine life, except that all license fees and penalties for violating regulations shall be as provided by law.
Commission members must hear from us, the sportsmen, if we want to protect our lifestyle and heritage. If we don’t, you can guarantee that the animal extremists will fill the void. They are already cratering our hunting, fishing, and trapping traditions from the inside out in other states. We cannot let that happen in the Sunshine State.
Share this alert with your family and friends and encourage them to attend this and future council meetings in-person or virtual. Urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the relentless attacks from animal extremists. The extremists are working tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
