On Monday, March 6, at 3:30 p.m. in room 401 of the Senate Building, the Senate Commerce & Tourism Committee is scheduled to hear SB 214. As we previously reported, SB 214 prohibits payment settlement entities, merchant acquiring entities, and third party settlement organizations from assigning merchant category codes or otherwise classifying merchants of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise or sporting goods retailers.
The usage of this new merchant code is voluntary and Discover Financial Service was the first to announce it will implement the new merchant code in April.
Please use our take action button to email the members of the committee urging them to SUPPORT SB 214 and protect personal privacy.
Don’t forget to share this message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen asking them to also email the committee urging them to support SB 214.
