Yesterday, SB 214 passed the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee 9 to 3. As previously reported, gun-control extremists are using every possible avenue to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, including uncovering personal identifying information on who owns firearms in America.
SB 214 will protect the firearm purchase privacy rights of sportsmen and gun owners. This important bill prohibits payment settlement entities, merchant acquiring entities, and third party settlement organizations from assigning merchant category codes or otherwise classifying merchants of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise or sporting goods retailers.
The next hearing date for SB 214 has not been scheduled yet, but we do know it will be in the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee. The Sportsmen’s Alliance will be monitoring the committee agenda and as soon as SB 214 has been scheduled for its next hearing we will let you know.
In the meantime, check out our legislative map to see all the bills we are currently monitoring in the Sunshine state and around the nation.
