Florida: Sportsmen Credit Card Privacy Bill Signed into Law

Last week, Governor Ron DeSantis took an important step in protecting Florida’s sportsmen by signing Senate Bill 214 into law.

SB 214 prohibits payment settlement entities, merchant acquiring entities, and third-party settlement organizations from assigning merchant category codes (MCC) or otherwise classifying merchants of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise or sporting goods retailers.

Florida’s 2023 legislative session adjourned earlier this month and the Sportsmen’s Alliance is continuing to monitor activities in the Sunshine State as you never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.

About the Sportsmen’s Alliance: The Sportsmen’s Alliance protects and defends America’s wildlife conservation programs and the pursuits – hunting, fishing and trapping – that generate the money to pay for them. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation is responsible for public education, legal defense and research. Its mission is accomplished through several distinct programs coordinated to provide the most complete defense capability possible.
