Utah’s 2024 legislative session adjourned sine die earlier this month. Prior to adjournment, the legislature sent House Bill 406, important legislation protecting sportsmen’s credit card purchase privacy rights, to the Governor.
Yesterday, March 14th, Governor Spencer Cox signed HB 406 into law.
HB 406 prohibits a financial entity from using a firearms merchant category code to distinguish a firearms retailer from other retailers. It also prohibits a financial entity from acting against a customer or merchant intended to suppress or track lawful commerce involving firearms.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Beehive State. You never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.
On our interactive legislative map, you can view the bills the Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored during the legislative session. Please share this message with your family and friends as sportsmen throughout Utah must continue to stay actively involved to defend our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
