On Monday, Feb. 27, the House State Affairs committee passed three bills to protect Idaho’s firearm industry by ensuring the state does not do business with financial institutions, companies, organizations, etc. who boycott an individual or company that engages in or supports the manufacture, distribution, sale or use of firearms.
These important bills have been sent to the House floor for consideration by the full House. A hearing date has not been scheduled yet. In the meantime, please use our take action button to email your state Representative urging him/her to SUPPORT H 189, H 190, and H 191.
House Bill 189 prohibits the state from engaging in contracts with companies that boycott certain business sectors and public contracts disfavoring certain sectors.
House Bill 190 ensures that banks and credit unions, designated by the Idaho State Treasurer as depositories for public monies, do not boycott industries important to our state and the livelihood of our citizens.
House Bill 191 restricts the state from using environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria in evaluating contract bids. ESG criteria have become an additional standard financial institutions and companies have started using when making decisions to work with other companies, businesses, organizations, etc. Issues identified under ESG criteria can relate to the preservation of our environment, consideration of humans, and what a business supports.
Don’t forget to share this message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen urging them to email their state Representative to SUPPORT these important bills.
