As previously reported, Indiana legislators are working to protect the credit card privacy of its sportsmen. Tomorrow, January 25, at 8:30 a.m., in room 156-A, the House Committee on Financial Institutions is scheduled to vote on House Bill 1084.
This important privacy rights bill prohibits a merchant acquirer or a payment card network from using or requiring the use of, an MCC in a way that distinguishes a firearms retailer with at least one physical location in Indiana from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers. The bill also prohibits a governmental entity or any other person from knowingly or willfully keeping any list, record, or registry of (1) privately owned firearms or (2) the owners of firearms with respect to Indiana consumers.
