On March 7, the Kansas Federal and State Affairs Committee held a first hearing on Senate Bill 522 and is scheduled to hear the bill again March 14. This legislation provides school districts the ability to provide the National Rifle Association’s Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program from kindergarten through eighth grade and the Department of Wildlife and Parks’ Hunter Education Program from grades six through twelve.
“This legislation makes an actual difference in ensuring the safety of children. It also passes along the proud sporting traditions we all enjoy,” said Dillon Barto, manager of state services at the Sportsmen’s Alliance.
