Senate Bill 3 was not scheduled to be heard in the Senate Agriculture Committee yesterday. The Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored the committee closely to ensure the bill was not placed on the agenda the day of the committee meeting.
Sportsmen, be aware. Rumors are swirling that SB 3 will be amended, trying to fool sportsmen into believing this bill is a good thing. Do not fall for the bait and switch!
As previously reported, SB 3 moves the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (DFWR) to the Department of Agriculture. It also gives the Commissioner of Agriculture complete nominating power for the Fish and Wildlife Commission.
This concept of moving fish and wildlife under agriculture is flawed from the get go. The DFWR uses the North American Model of Conservation to manage wildlife based on a belief system regarding resources and their proper management and use. This is much different from how the farming community views those same resources, let alone how they manage them effectively and for what purpose.
Please continue to use our Take Action button to email your state Senator urging him/her to OPPOSE any version of SB 3 that is brought before him/her. It is imperative that you remind your Senator that farming and wildlife are two different communities and must be controlled by the right people.

Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. The Bluegrass State needs all sportsmen to email their state senator. Let him/her know that moving the DFWR is not in the best interest of Kentucky’s wildlife and its sportsmen.
