Earlier today, Wednesday, March 1, the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee voted unanimously “ought not to pass” on LD 261, essentially defeating the bill for the year. LD 261 would have reinstated a minimum age for hunting.
In 2015, Maine became the 40th state to allow its citizens to decide when their children can begin to hunt by removing the minimum hunting age. The Sportsmen’s Alliance thanks the committee for supporting sportsmen and parents by defeating LD 261.
