This year, several sportsmen-related bills were introduced but failed to make it through the legislative process, except for the bills below, which Governor Tate Reeves signed into law.
HB 526 authorizes hunters to wear solid, unbroken fluorescent pink as an alternative to fluorescent orange.
HB 1206 revises the dates for fur-bearing animals and hunting opossums, raccoons, and bobcats with dogs and guns. The bill also clarifies wearing fluorescent orange and pink during firearm season on deer.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Magnolia State. You never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.
On our interactive map, you can view the bills the Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored during the legislative session. Please share this message with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout Mississippi must continue to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
