Last week, April 6, was legislative crossover day. This means that if a bill did not pass out of its house of origin, then it is essentially defeated for the year.
As we reported in March, three gun-control bills related to background checks, waiting periods and holding firearm industries liable for the criminal actions of others were defeated.
One bill of interest to New Hampshire sportsmen is a housekeeping measure, but a good one. Senate Bill 18 allows the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department to offer an electronic duck stamp as compared to a physical stamp from the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service. This will allow an individual to purchase a duck stamp online and have access to it the same day instead of waiting 10-20 days for the physical stamp to arrive.
Even though several gun-control bills that would have affected sportsmen have been defeated, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Granite State as you never know when issues may arise.
Sportsmen throughout New Hampshire must stay actively involved to defend our hunting, fishing and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy. Please share this email with your family, friends and fellow sportsmen to ensure they are up-to-date on bills moving through the legislative process.
