The House Criminal Justice & Public Safety Committee took public testimony on two bills that are most troubling for sportsmen. The committee has already scheduled these bills for a vote next Thursday, February 16 at 9:00 a.m. in the Legislative Office Building room 202-204. Please use our take action button to continue to email the members of the committee urging them to oppose HB 59 and HB 76.
As previously reported, these bills only restrict firearms and their use among the law-abiding, whether for protection, hunting or shooting.
House Bill 59 requires a background check prior to any commercial firearm sale.
House Bill 76 imposes a mandatory three-day waiting period for firearms purchase even after the purchaser passes the background check, with limited exceptions.
