On Wednesday, January 21, the House Education Policy and Administration Committee is holding a hearing on two education bills that represent a vital step toward preserving hunting and wildlife management practices, as well as public safety in our children, young adults, and community. HB 1122 and HB 1830 are scheduled to be heard at 1 p.m. in Granite Place, room 232 in Concord.
Urge the Committee to Recommend “Ought to Pass”
Please use the Take Action Button to email committee members asking them to recommend an “Ought to Pass” on both HB 1122 and HB 1830. Firearm ownership is a “cherished institution,” and New Hampshire’s children and young adults deserve to be properly educated in this cultural heritage.
HB 1122: High School Hunting and Wildlife Curriculum
HB 1122 requires the Board of Education and the Fish and Game Commission to jointly approve a policy guideline and content standards on mandatory curriculum for high school students covering hunting, wildlife management, and responsible firearm handling.
HB 1830: Age-Appropriate Safety and Responsibility
HB 1830 requires the Department of Education to promote public safety and responsible citizenship by ensuring that all students in New Hampshire public schools receive age-appropriate education on firearms safety in order to foster an understanding of safe handling, storage, and the legal responsibilities associated with firearms ownership and use.
Protecting Parental Rights
Both bills respect parental rights by including clear opt-out provisions for those with religious or conscientious objections.
Protecting the Sportsman’s Way of Life
Don’t forget to share this alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Urge them to use the Take Action button to contact the committee members and urge them to recommend an “Ought to Pass” on both HB 1122 and HB 1830.
There has never been a more crucial time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. If we remain silent, others will shape the outcome. We cannot allow that to happen in New Hampshire. The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping depends on our actions today. Urge your family and friends to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in the fight against the rising tide of animal extremism and gun control activism.
