The Assembly’s favorite anti-gun bill, A4769, is moving so fast through the legislative process that the legislative staff can’t keep up with where this bill will be heard next. Not only did the hearing in the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations committee yesterday not show up on the A4769’s bill page until after the hearing, but it currently does not show that A4769 is on the Assembly calendar for this Thursday, Oct. 27. This date was predicted by Speaker Coughlin over a week ago, prior to A4769 having any hearings.
Sadly, A4769 passed the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations committee 3-2 on a party-line vote. Republican Assemblymen Robert Auth and Michael Torrissi continued to support hunters, shooters and gun owners by voting “No” on A4769. Continue to email your state Assemblymember urging them to oppose A4769 and ask your fellow hunters, shooters and gun owners to do the same. You can email them with one click using the button below.
The Senate has scheduled A4769’s companion, Senate Bill 3214, for its first hearing in the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee on Thursday, Oct. 27 in the State House Annex, Committee Room 6, 1st floor.
Just like its companion, S3214 affects ALL gun owners by making several changes to the Firearm Purchaser Identification Card (FPIC), which is required to purchase any firearm, including a rifle or a shotgun for hunting.
Senate President Nicholas Scutari has not predicted S3214’s senate floor hearing date, but we expect this bill to move just as quickly through the Senate as its Assembly companion did.
Email members of the Senate Law and Public Safety committee urging them to OPPOSE S3214.
Forward this information to your family, friends and fellow sportsmen in New Jersey, and tell them to email the members of the committee and urge them to vote No to S3214. You can email them with one click using the button below.
