Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, the New Hampshire House Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety is holding a hearing on legislation that would restrict the ability of sportsmen and other gun owners from purchasing affordable firearms.
The Impact of HB 1387 on Sportsmen
HB 1387 is scheduled to be heard at 1:30 p.m. This detrimental bill would repeal protections given to firearm manufacturers and local dealers from civil actions resulting from the criminal misuse of their products by a third party.
Without these protections, victims of crime can successfully sue firearms and ammunition makers for the actions of a criminal who uses their products. The financial liability of bills like this will dramatically drive up the cost of firearms and ammunition or worse, drive firearms manufacturers out of business.
Protecting the Sporting Community
This is not an accident. The authors of this bill simply want to destroy the sporting community because they know that if the industry cannot engage in lawful commerce, hunters and sport shooters cannot hunt and shoot.
