On Tuesday, April 22, the House animal-extremist majority passed a bill by a vote of 38 to 18, which will lead to a statewide beaver-trapping ban on public lands. HB 3932 prohibits a person from taking a beaver on waters or watersheds that are classified in a certain manner or on public land that is within the watersheds or within 200 feet of the ordinary high-water mark of the waters.
Animal extremists claim this bill will prohibit beaver trapping on only 4 percent of public lands. Sadly, we all know how this death-by-a-thousand-cuts tactic works; if we give up 4 percent now, they’ll come back for more next year and the next until they take it all.
This egregious bill has been sent to the Senate and referred to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Wildlife. Please reach out to your state Senator urging them to OPPOSE HB 3932.
Last week, the House Judiciary Committee recommended a “Do pass with amendments” concerning the two following egregiously anti-sportsmen bills and referred them to the Joint Ways and Means Committee. A hearing date has not been scheduled as of today, April 23. Please keep an eye on your inbox for updates on these two bills:
As previously reported, HB 3075, relating to Ballot Measure 114, which has not even taken effect, increases the maximum fee that may be charged for an initial application for and renewal of a permit, and extends the time, from 30 to 60 days from receipt of the application, by which a permit agent must issue a permit to a qualified applicant or mail reasons for a denial in writing to the applicant. We do not need to say how this is ripe for abuse.
House Bill 3076 was amended and no longer directs the Department of Justice to study the establishment of a state gun dealer licensing program. It now creates a state gun dealer licensing program administered by the Department of Justice. We all know gun dealers have to have a Federal Firearms License to sell firearms, this is just more bureaucratic red tape.
Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, fellow sportsmen and gun owners and ask them to take action. Urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to secure our future against the animal and gun control extremists seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat.
