On Tuesday, May 2, the gun-control majority House of Representatives passed House Bill 2005B, the Governor and Attorney General’s bill, along with a procedural move sending the bill straight to the Senate floor. Thus, eliminating the opportunity for the public, meaning sportsmen and gun owners, to express their opposition to HB 2005B. HB 2005B could be scheduled for a vote on the Senate floor at any time. Please use our Take Action button to email your state Senator urging them to OPPOSE HB 2005B. You can also you the same Take Action button to let the governor know that you OPPOSE HB 2005B.
As previously reported, HB 2005B contains provisions from HB 2005, HB 2006, and HB 2007. Bills specifically requested by Gov. Tina Kotek and Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum.
HB 2005B prohibits persons under 21 years of age from possessing certain categories of firearms, restricts private individuals from making their own firearms for personal use, and weakens Oregon’s preemption law by allowing localities to prohibit concealed carry in public buildings and on their grounds.
