CALL NOW! Pennsylvania hunters need to contact their Senator immediately to ask them to vote yes on Senate Bill 147, which will allow Sunday hunting. Sportsmen can contact their state senators by using the Sportsmen’s Alliance Action Center Directory.
With only a few days of session remaining before the summer recess, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved Senate Bill 147, which would allow hunting on Sundays. This action clears the way for the bill to be voted on by the entire Pennsylvania Senate which could happen any day this week.
Pennsylvania is surrounded by states that allow hunters to hunt for a full weekend. Only two other states (Maine and Massachusetts) have a near-total ban on Sunday hunting similar to Pennsylvania. The Sportsmen’s Alliance has coordinated with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, National Rifle Association and Hunters United for Sunday Hunting to urge legislators to end the outdated and unnecessary prohibition.
“The time has come to give Pennsylvania hunters and landowners the same choices permitted in all neighboring states,” said Bruce Tague vice president of government affairs for Sportsmen’s Alliance. “Sunday hunting is a win for everyone. It’s good for hunters, the economy and, of course, for conservation.”
