There has never been a more important time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. Animal and gun-control extremists are pressing to cancel our way of life forever. Through schemes and trickery, their relentless assault on our heritage must be stopped.
The pro-sportsmen bills listed below are exactly what is needed in the Sooner State to keep the extremists from succeeding. These bills have all passed their respective Senate Committees and can be heard on the Senate floor at any time. Use the Take Action button to email your state Senator and urge them to continue to support sportsmen in Oklahoma and vote “Yes” to SB 16, SB 500, and SB 636.
Senate Bill 16, the Oklahoma Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, prohibits any payment card network from requiring or incentivizing the use of a merchant category code in a manner that distinguishes a firearm retailer from other retailers and prohibits any government entity from knowingly keeping any list or record of privately owned firearms or the owners of those firearms. The measure also directs the Attorney General to investigate reasonable allegations that a person or entity violated the provisions of this measure. Nineteen states have adopted similar legislation.
Senate Bill 500 requires each governmental entity entering into a contract with a company for the purchase of goods or services to obtain written verification from the company that it does not have a practice or policy that discriminates against a firearm entity or firearm trade association and that it will not discriminate against a firearm entity or firearm trade association.
Senate Bill 636 prohibits any state entity or political subdivision from using public funding to distribute any pamphlet or kit that opposes the rights granted by the Second Amendment. The measure also prohibits such entities from employing any liaison or lobbyist to support or defeat the enactment, repeal, or amendment of any legislation, rule, regulation, administrative action, or order by any federal or state governmental entity relating to the Second Amendment. Public funding for actions relating to advocating against such rights is also prohibited. The provisions of this measure shall not apply to elected officials, persons presenting neutral testimony, or any person stating a personal opinion while presenting testimony.
Do not forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen and gun owners. Urge them to use the Take Action button and to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the rising tide of animal and gun control extremism. The extremists work tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
