Gun-control extremists are using every possible avenue to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, and Texas’ pro-gun legislators are pushing back.
Recently, gun-control advocates have pushed for sportsmen and gun owners to carry firearms insurance. They figure requiring insurance will “promote” responsible firearm ownership, along with being able to use the insurance money to offset the cost of violent crime caused by criminals. This tactic is nothing more than an attempt to punish us, the law-abiding, for owning a lawful product and making us pay for the criminal acts of others.
Today, at 2 p.m., the House Community Safety, Select Committee, is holding a public hearing on House Bill 3137, a bill to prohibit counties and municipalities from adopting and enforcing regulations requiring a firearm owner to obtain liability insurance. Please use our take action button to email the committee asking them to protect sportsmen and SUPPORT HB 3137.
In September 2022, the International Organizations for Standardization (ISO) approved the creation of a new merchant code for firearm retailers to use when their customers use a credit card to purchase firearms and ammunition. The big credit card companies like American Express, Mastercard and Visa are already working to implement this new merchant code. Credit card companies have always used merchant codes, but previous codes were general with firearm store sales listed as general merchandise or sporting goods. The new codes are specific to firearms and ammunition.
Tomorrow, at 8 a.m., the House Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee will be taking public testimony on House Bill 2837, the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, a bill prohibiting financial institutions in Texas from surveilling, reporting, or tracking the purchase of firearms and ammunition.
Please use our take action button to email the committee asking them to protect sportsmen’s privacy and SUPPORT HB 2837.
Don’t forget to share this alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen urging them to also take action and email the committees urging them to SUPPORT HB 3137 and HB 2837.
