2014 is shaping up to be a year for the record books for the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation’s (USSAF) Trailblazer Adventure Program after holding an event in Vermont, making it the 50th state to host the youth outdoor program.
The event was hosted by the Green Mountain Council Boy Scouts of America and offered youth and their families hands-on experience in archery, target shooting and fishing. Other activities included leather craft, bear hunting demonstrations from the Vermont Bearhound Association, and trapping education from the Vermont Trappers Association.
Since its inception in 2001, Trailblazer has grown to be the most successful youth program of its kind, introducing over 1.7 million youth and their families to our outdoor heritage.
Trailblazer would not be as successful without the generous donations from sponsors such as the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, who serves as the title sponsor of the program. Other sponsors include the NRA Foundation who recently awarded Trailblazer numerous grants from state chapters across the country.
“This is a momentous accomplishment for the Trailblazer Adventure Program,” said Frank Price, USSAF education director. “It would not be possible without donations from great groups such as the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund and the NRA Foundation. They are helping to spread our hunting heritage to younger generations.”
The Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, NRA Foundation and many others offer grants to the Trailblazer program to help aid in the expenses of the program that is offered free to all participating groups.
“Holding events in all 50 states has been a goal we have strived for since the beginning.” continued Price. “It is vital that we reach youth all across the country to introduce them to the outdoors, and Vermont has sealed that for us.”
