Good news in the Volunteer State this week: Governor Lee signed SB 350, which protects sportsmen from being evicted for having a firearm in their leased property, into law, and SB 1554 and SB 2028 were sent to the Governor for his consideration.
Use the Take Action to email the Governor and ask him to continue his support for sportsmen and gun owners and sign SB 2028 and SB 1554 into law.
The Legislative Timeline for SB 1554 and SB 2028
Governor Lee has ten days to sign or veto a bill. If he allows that time to pass without action, the bill automatically becomes law, a major win for Tennessee sportsmen. We are calling on him to either sign these bills or allow them to become law to protect our heritage.
Extending the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (SB 1554)
SB 1554 was transmitted to the Governor on March 20. This bill secures the future of our natural resources by extending the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission through June 30, 2030.
Protecting the “Manner and Means” of Hunting (SB 2028)
SB 2028 was transmitted to the Governor yesterday, March 27. This bill ensures local governments, including cities, counties, and municipalities, cannot regulate the “manner and means” of taking wildlife, establishing that the sole authority to regulate hunting practices rests with the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

There has never been a more crucial time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping depends on our actions today. Urge your family and friends to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in the fight against the rising tide of animal extremism and gun control activism.

We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler, and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square, and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
