Yesterday, the House Minerals, Business & Economic Development Committee ran out of time to take up House Bill 253. This important legislation protects sportsmen by only allowing the use of sporting goods codes when they purchase of firearms and ammunition with a credit card. The bill prohibits the financial institution and credit card company from generating or collecting any personally identifying information except to identify those purchases as sporting goods.
HB 253 is expected to be heard at the next committee meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1. Please use our take action button to email the members of the House Minerals, Business & Economic Development Committee asking them to support HB 253.
And good news! Last week, three pro-sportsmen bills passed their house of origin in the legislature.
SF 116 passed the Senate 29 to 2 and is now waiting for House committee assignment. SF 116 protects Wyoming’s firearm industry.
SF 178 passed the Senate 25 to 5 and is also waiting for House for committee assignment. SF 178 creates a mountain lion dog training season.
HB 104 passed the House 54 to 7 and will now head to the Senate for committee assignment. HB 104 will allow the Commission to establish rules and regulations for predator hunting with the use of artificial light, including thermal or infrared imaging.
We will continue to monitor these bills and inform you when action is needed.
