Yesterday, April 11, the 2024 Idaho Legislative Session adjourned sine die. This means the legislative session is completed for the year.
This year, the legislative session was quiet for sportsmen. Only a handful of sportsmen-related bills were introduced, and two pro-sportsmen bills made it to the governor’s desk. Governor Brad Little signed both bills into law.
SB 1291 prohibits public entities from entering into contracts with individuals or companies that are boycotting certain industries, including those that engage in or support the manufacture, distribution, sale, or use of firearms.
SB 1317 creates the Gadsden “Don’t Tread On Me” license plate. The revenues generated from the specialty plate will help fund the firearms safety grant fund, which awards school districts grants to establish or maintain firearms safety education courses in K-12 schools.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Gem State, like our recent report on the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) and its hodge-podge posse of animal extremist groups, including the Humane Society of the United States and the Sierra Club, once again filing a lawsuit to derail sound scientific wildlife management of wolves.
On our interactive map, you can view the bills the Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored during the legislative session. Please share this message with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout Idaho must continue to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
