Last week was a good week for the sportsmen of the Volunteer State. Thanks to your emails, several bills of serious concern failed to advance out of their respective committees, making it unlikely that they or their companion bills will continue through the legislative process.
House Bill 1583 / Senate Bill 2948 would have required an individual who resides in this state and owns a firearm to maintain firearm liability insurance in an amount of at least one million dollars, to insure the individual against losses or damages, including death, injury, or property damage, resulting from the use of the individual’s firearm.
House Bill 2193 / Senate Bill 2191 would have imposed an additional 15% excise tax on firearms.
House Bill 2938 / Senate Bill 2513 would have created a new massive regulatory system that would have likely ensnared a large number of sporting dog enthusiasts into regulatory compliance as commercial breeders.
The legislative session is not over yet. The Sportsmen’s Alliance is continuing to monitor several bills, both good and bad. Make sure to check your inbox for updates and when action will be needed.
Don’t forget to share this good news with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Urge them to join the Sportsmen’s Alliance, so they can receive updates and alerts on all the happenings in the Volunteer State.
