Tomorrow, May 10, at 9 a.m. in room 1100, the Assembly Appropriations Committee is scheduled to hear a bill to raise the taxes on sportsmen and gun owners in order to pay for gun violence protection, healing, and recovery programs. As we all know, this tax is not about protecting and healing California’s communities. AB 28 is just another tactic gun-control extremists are using to try to force law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners to pay for the criminal actions of others and give up their freedom.
This egregious bill is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, May 10, in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. Unfortunately, we expect it to pass the money-hungry Appropriations Committee, so we are asking sportsmen and gun owners to start emailing their state Assembly Member NOW urging them to OPPOSE AB 28. Please use our Take Action button to ensure your state Assembly Member receives your email urging him/her to OPPOSE AB 28.
As we have previously reported, Assembly Bill 28 establishes the Gun Violence Prevention, Healing, and Recovery Fund and imposes an additional 11% tax on the gross receipt from the retail sale of any firearm, firearm precursor part, or ammunition to go toward this fund.
Violent crime is a societal problem with many causes that should be borne by everyone instead of singling out innocent sportsmen and firearms owners.
Don’t forget to share this important message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen and ask them to also email their Assembly Member urging them to OPPOSE AB 28.
