On Saturday, March 11, the Colorado House of Representatives passed HB23-1219 44 to 20. Gun control fanatics are moving this bill quickly, as HB23-1219 has already been referred to its next committee and scheduled for a hearing in the senate.
Today, March 16 at 1:30 p.m., HB23-1219 is scheduled to be heard in the Senate State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee. Please use our take action button to email the members of the committee urging them to OPPOSE HB-1219.
HB23-1219 imposes an arbitrary three-day delay on gun owners taking possession of their firearms and makes this delay longer or indefinite if authorities fail to complete a background check during that time.
Researchers have shown time and again that waiting periods do nothing to reduce violent crime and stand in the way of lawful self-defense and the purchase of firearms for recreational hunting and shooting. This is yet another “wish list” item for anti-gun politicians who simply want to restrict our freedom.
