Colorado’s credit card purchase tracking bill, SB 24-066, is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 27, in the House Business Affairs & Labor, along with HB 24-1353.
As previously reported, a gun-control advocate’s only answer to gun violence is to add more gun control to restrict the law-abiding. Why? Because passing bills that slowly but surely strip the firearms freedom of law-abiding sportsmen is the key, at least from their perspective. Colorado needs meaningful laws to reduce violent crime. Not laws purposely targeted to reduce lawful firearm ownership altogether.
If you have not already used the Take Action button to email the committee members, please do so now there is still time to ensure they know the sportsmen community and gun owners are opposed to SB 24-066 and HB 24-1353.
SB24-066 allows credit companies and payment processors to use merchant category codes (MCC) to track credit card purchases of firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition.
HB 24-1353 creates a duplicative state permitting system for federally regulated firearm license holders. It also adds additional conditions and requirements for dealers, random inspections, and severe penalties for violations. Federal Firearm Licensed (FFL) dealers are already required to be licensed by the federal government and are highly regulated.
Criminals do not purchase their firearms from federally licensed firearm dealers (FFL), nor do they use credit cards when purchasing a firearm.
