On Friday, March 3, the Joint Committee on Environment passed HB 6611. This bill will now move to House floor for further consideration.
HB 6611 authorizes the issuance of online dog licenses from the Department of Agriculture in addition to the current process of registering with the town clerk.
For sportsmen who have one dog or several dogs, this legislation will enhance and streamline the dog-license registration and renewal process.
Yesterday, the Joint Judiciary Committee did take public testimony on House Bill 6816. HB 6816 will be scheduled for another hearing and vote at a later date. This legislation prohibits the sale of ammunition and ammunition magazines to anyone under the age of 21, with no exemptions for hunting, self-defense or shooting competitions. In addition, the bill prohibits handguns without microstamping capabilities to be sold in the state four years after certification by the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor both HB 6611 and HB 6816 and will let you know when further action is needed. In the meantime, check out our legislative map showing all the issues the Sportsmen’s Alliance is monitoring in the Constitution State.
