On Friday, July 12, HB1186-FN, the important “Firearm’s Purchaser’s Privacy Act,” was signed into law by New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu.
HB1186-FN prohibits the assigning of a specific merchant code to a firearms retailer located in the state that is engaged in the lawful sale of firearms, ammunition for use in firearms, or firearms accessories and provides a mechanism for enforcement of this prohibition.
Credit card companies are currently working to comply with California and Colorado’s new law tracking firearm and ammunition credit card purchases within their state.
HB1186 prohibits this from happening in our great state ensuring our sportsmen and gun owners’ firearm and ammunition credit card purchases stay private. This legislation recognizes that law-abiding citizens deserve this important protection, and anyone who supports our freedom should defend our privacy in this way.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Government Affairs Team will continue to monitor activities in the Granite State as you never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise. You can view the bills we monitored during the legislative session on our interactive map.
Don’t forget to share this alert and future alerts with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout the state must continue to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
