As promised by House Speaker Mariano last week, HD.4607 will have a vote by the end of the month. That day is next Wednesday, October 18. If you have not contacted your state Representative, Now Is the Time. Please use our Take Action button to email your state Representative urging him/her to OPPOSE HD.4607. Your representative needs to know HD.4607 is not the answer and will only add to the current legal backlog by turning the law-abiding into criminals.
As previously reported, Representative Michael Day, the bill sponsor of HD.4420, realized that his bill was going nowhere and decided to revise it. HD.4607, the rewrite, has some changes, but will still turn virtually all law-abiding sportsmen of any age into felons. As Mark Leahy, former chief of the Northboro Police Department and the executive director of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, said, “The bill simply won’t reduce crime.”
The process on HD.4607 has not been routine, but if the normal process is followed, then amendments can be filed on the bill by the close of business on Tuesday, October 17.
We will monitor this issue closely and update you as soon as information is available.
Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen, urging them to email their state Representative asking him/her to OPPOSE HD.4607. The Bay State will need all its sportsmen and gun owners to work together to stop HD.4607.
