Last Friday, June 27, the Oregon legislative session adjourned. There were several sportsmen-related bills introduced this year. Below are a few that made it through the legislative process, including two anti-sportsmen bills.
HB 2170 authorizes the State Department of Fish and Wildlife, the State Marine Board or the State Department of Agriculture to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with a tribal government, local government, or a local service district to perform aquatic invasive species inspections at check stations. HB 2170 was signed into law on May 8.
HB 2342 adjusts fees concerning wildlife, fishing, and hunting licenses. HB 2342 is pending the governor’s consideration.
HB 3932A prohibits a person from taking a beaver on waters or watersheds that are classified in a certain manner or on public land that is within the watersheds or within 200 feet of the ordinary high-water mark of such waters. HB3932A was signed into law on June 26.
SB 221 directs the State Department of Fish and Wildlife to assist in the establishment of fall Chinook incubation nursery programs, and to report on the programs to the Legislative Assembly. SB 221 was signed into law on June 9.
The language from HB 3075 was amended into SB 243, which modifies the firearm permit provisions of Ballot Measure 114. This language increases the maximum fee that may be charged for an initial application for and renewal of a permit and extends the time, from 30 to 60 days from receipt of the application, by which a permit agent must issue a permit to a qualified applicant or mail reasons for a denial in writing to the applicant. SB 243 is pending the governor’s consideration.

Even though the 2025 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Beaver State. You never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.
Please share this message with your family and friends as sportsmen. Urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the relentless attacks from animal extremists. The extremists work tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
