Last Friday, April 21, the Tennessee General Assembly adjourned sine die. This means the legislative session is completed. The following bills have been sent to Gov. Bill Lee for his consideration.
Senate Bill 494/House Bill 395 allows persons who are not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a handgun to carry a handgun while hunting, so long as the handgun is not used for the taking of game. HB 395 conforms hunting regulations with Tennessee permitless carry law.
Senate Bill 822/House Bill 1189 protects Tennessee’s firearm industry from those who want to destroy the sporting community with crippling lawsuits against firearms manufacturers for the violent acts of third parties. Lawful firearm manufacturers and firearm dealers should not be responsible for crimes committed by third parties outside of their control.
Please use our Take Action button to email Gov. Lee respectfully asking him to sign SB 494/HB 395 and SB 822/HB 1189 into law.
Even though the 2023 regular legislative session is adjourned, Gov. Lee announced, “that he will call for a special session to pass legislation that will strengthen public safety and preserve constitutional rights.” The Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Volunteer State and will inform you if any action is needed during the special session.
