On Dec. 12, the Burlington City Council unanimously passed the city’s Board of Health resolution to DEMAND the repeal of Vermont’s firearm preemption law, also known as the Vermont Sportsmen’s Bill of Rights, at the state legislature.
As previously reported, the Burlington City Council is being driven by anti-gun advocacy groups whose only agenda is to destroy hunting and firearms ownership in Vermont and across the country.
Due to the Sportsmen’s Bill of Rights, the Burlington City Council cannot enact local anti-gun restrictions and must have the state’s approval before doing so. This is exactly why the Sportsmen’s Bill of rights is crucial, it keeps Vermont from having a patchwork of confusing local laws throughout the state which can create instant criminals out of law-abiding sportsmen.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor this important issue. In the meantime, if you are interested in knowing what else is going on in Vermont or around the nation, please check out our website www.sportsmensalliance.org.
