Tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission is holding its monthly committee and regular meetings virtually.
This month’s meeting covers critical, long-term decisions that will directly impact Washington’s outdoor heritage, wildlife management, and future opportunities in the field and on the water. Unfortunately, anti-hunting groups and outside interests will be showing up in force to push their agendas. Therefore, Washington’s wildlife needs sportsmen and conservationists to flood the virtual room, balance the scale, and make sure science-based management wins the day.

Shaping the Future of Hunting:
- The Wildlife Committee is discussing the 2027–2029 Three-Year Season Setting and Hunting Technology. Decisions made during these cycles dictate hunting rules, season structures, and gear restrictions for years to come.
Crucial Wildlife Policy Reviews:
- The commission will review the 2025 Cougar Season Changes. It is vital that sportspeople provide a balanced, science-based perspective on predator management and public safety.
Fisheries & Conservation Updates:
- Key updates on White Sturgeon and Resident Native Trout policies are on the line, affecting both conservation efforts and recreational fishing access across the state.
Protecting Public Lands:
- Friday’s agenda includes Land Transactions and decisions. Your presence ensures that decisions regarding public land acquisition and access remain transparent and favorable to the outdoor community.

For instance, anti-hunting groups constantly search for backdoors to lock hunters out of public lands. They specifically want to outlaw essential conservation tools and choke traditional sports with red tape.
History proves that radical animal-rights groups capitalize on silence when outdoor enthusiasts drop their guard. However, the sporting community cannot sit back. We simply cannot let a loud, highly organized minority rewrite the rules of wildlife management.
Sportsmen fund conservation and actively manage the land. Now, our community must match the energy of animal extremists and environmental opponents in the public square.
