Yesterday, September 7, the state Senate passed Assembly Bill 28, the “Sin” tax bill, thus sending it back to the Assembly for concurrence. No surprise, the Assembly suspended several of its rules yesterday and passed AB 28. AB 28 is now on to Governor Newsom for his consideration.
As reported, AB 28 imposes an additional 11% tax on the gross receipt from the retail sale of any firearm, firearm precursor part, or ammunition and establishes the “Gun Violence Prevention, Healing, and Recovery Fund.”
The Governor has until October 14 to sign or veto AB 28 and he needs to start hearing from sportsmen and gun owners today urging him to VETO this legislation.
Please use our TAKE ACTION below to email Governor Newsom urging him not to punish law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners for the criminal actions of others and VETO AB 28.
Do not forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen, as the Golden State needs everyone to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
