The Challenge Animal-Rights Groups Pose
For nearly two decades, we have fought to end the abuse of the Endangered Species Act by radical animal-rights organizations and to return them to state management. However, extreme multimillion-dollar animal-rights organizations have exhausted every legal challenge possible to prevent proper management of the apex predator. For groups like the Humane Society of the United States, Center for Biological Diversity, Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife and others, the benefit is immense.
First, they ensure hunting bans remain in place during the lengthy judicial process and in spite of the soaring population numbers. Second, the seemingly unending string of court cases gives these groups a nonstop rallying cry to raise millions of dollars to push additional more anti-hunting measures.
How Animal-Rights Groups Impact Wolf Policy
Meanwhile, sportsmen in these states are feeling the direct effects of an unmanaged predator population that impacts deer, elk and other species.
Our Strategy & Recent Actions
After fighting this battle through multiple court systems, the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation has launched a proactive campaign, putting sportsmen on the offensive.
In July 2023, we filed a pair of petitions with the Fish and Wildlife Service providing a clear pathway for protecting remnant populations while delisting and returning recovered wolf populations to state management.
This approach satisfies the concerns laid out by the courts in previous delisting attempts, while finally allowing for wolves to return to state management and putting an end to the abuse of the Endangered Species Act once and for all.
